The stars were not shinning when victor stepped out of the gray-blue two story condo. They were hiding behind black storm clouds, afraid of drawing attention to themselves if they shone too brightly in the night sky. Victor spared only a second to gaze up, finding only darkness he began walking slowly down the dimly lit residential street. He breathed deep, enjoying the freshness of the winter air. His lips involuntary turned into a frown as he thought of the coming of spring and summer. Two terrible seasons he would have to endure before he could smell this alluring aroma again. He wasn’t sure what gave the winter air such an attractive scent but he wished he could bottle it up.
A car turned onto the street ahead of him and he adverted his face to keep from being blinded by the headlights, and to keep from being seen. It was only a matter of time before someone discovered the remains of his actions in the condo behind him. He hoped silently it would not be so soon, but it would be entertaining if it was. He could watch the whole scene unfold. He could witness the police cars speed down the street and the heavy set officers struggle to get out of their vehicles and run up the seven stairs to the front door.
He could observe how they proceeded to enter the building and secure the crime scene. Victor stopped. It may be a good idea to stick around and gather information. Something would prove to be useful later on. He decided against it, and kept walking.
