  • What Does the Future Hold?

I attempt to consider what the future holds for me and I can only manage to hold a few dozen possibilities in my mind at once. The variations are as our parents told us, infinite. We can be almost anything we wish to be. The real decision which many of us put off, giving one excuse after the other, is what do we want to define us? When we are old and our hair is gray, if we have any that is, what do we want to be known for? I don’t mean on a large scale either. One of…

  • Dedication

“I feel the tenderness in your touch, like a loving mother.” -Stone “In a life of chaos, you hold steady and never falter”. -Water

  • Its Just Past Midnight

It is just past midnight, and I lie here looking into your eyes and I see a beauty like heaven’s skies. Your soft laughter and sweet smile are like that of angelic kisses upon my heart and soul. I wish that I didn’t have to go, that I could stay here with you in my arms. I could call it heaven if it wasn’t for the screeching cars outside our window. I know I will see you again, when the sun’s rays cut through the morning darkness. It just seem so far away. I am contempt though, to lie here…

  • Never Forgotten

There was never a shortage of smiles, nor a lack of laugh’s when he was around. Nathaniel Smith was a husband, father, mentor and hero to his wife, children, grand children, and great grandchild. His actions inspired, while his words spoke of wisdom, both were always intertwined with his unique jovial sarcasm. He viewed every day as a gift and never let a moment slip through his fingers.

  • Mistborn Trilogy

It took some time to finish this trilogy. Partially because I was invested in the hunger games trilogy, and partly for the fact that I didn’t want it to end. A very good friend of mine spoke of this series years ago. I brushed it aside like sand, yet it continually reemerged in our conversations. I now understand why he always brought it up. It is without a doubt, amazing. It invokes every emotion possible, and leaves the soul wanting more. It is a drug, leaving the mind wanting to understand, wanting this world to continue. It is a world…

  • Life’s Carousel

It seems to me, the meaning of life is lost. Maybe that is why no one knows it. As if the human race is on a carousel trying to look out at the crowd. Yet we are all moving far too fast to find our loved one’s hidden among the blurred faces. Constantly moving, swirling around and around till our time has come, and our ride ends. Then the pearly white gate’s part allowing us to rejoin our family. Now we are left to watch those left behind as their ride continues on. Helpless to join them, but happy as…

  • Catching Fire

I am hard pressed to say that Catching Fire, book two of the Hunger Games series, is even better than the first book, but it is. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, just when I felt like I had a moment to feel relaxed, everything is ripped away. My world is turned upside down and shaken like a child playing with a snow globe. The pace is quick and before the mind can grasp the full nature of events, more is lathered on. Layer after layer of plot and deceit, death and sadness, anger and revenge.…

  • Mistborn Review

According to a very good friend of mine, this is second best only to Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. I would have to agree with him on this account. Brandon Sanderson creates a stunning system and follows it up with one twist after another. It was very difficult to put this book down because of all the interwoven layers. This novel is definitely worth a read and it should be on every bookshelf. The character’s in Mistborn have a unique feel about them, their characteristics amplified as the story line progressed. I became attached to many of them, wishing…
